This is precisely why the EU is desperately using the current unstable situation to obtain British troops as a spearhead of the European Defence Force.  This has been the object of Tony Blair  at St Malo in 1998 when he promised President Chirac  that he was prepared to cooperate in establishing a 'European Defence Identity' and since then he has had to face both ways until the New EU Treaty is fully ratified and then our brave troops will be flung into the ring of any unpleasant disturbance  anywhere which the EU considers needs the bravest of the brave to give their lives-NOT FOR CROWN AND COUNTRY but for an undemocratic unaccountable corrupt sovietised collective entity calling itself the UNITED STATES OF EUROPE.   *   [WE SAY] LET THE GURKHAS STAY      A petition backing the Gurkhas has been posted on Mr Brown's Downing Street website.
