WHILE OUR SOLDIERS DIE FOR £2 AN HOUR THE ECONOMIC LOCUSTS GATHER UP THE HARVEST OF RICHES. On Channel 4 News through the eyes of a photographer we witnessed the isolated British patrol under attack from the Taliban. It was hair-raising and one could see at close quarters the stress and strain of battle. An army Major with experience of Afghanistan and no doubt Iraq pleaded by E. Mail for more air-support which is conspicuously lacking instead as usual feature of their operations. It appears we have little or at times no air-support for our encircled pockets of our troops in a wilderness of desert sand -hills and valleys -a perfect terrain for the defenders of their country. Though the MoD appears to be unable to find the money for the air-cover our troops desperately need the Government is spending millions every month in providing private SECURITY GUARDS for reconstruction workers -the diplomatic service -visiting businessmen and many others eyeing up Iraq for future development. In war there is plenty of opportunity for many rich people to get even richer. The American Halliburton company and many others thrive on the wide variety of services they provide for American forces in Iraq and no doubt in Afghanistan. But one thing that the American Defense Department does do which our fumbling MoD fails to do -and that is supply the necessary equipment to do the job. We now learn that the MoD has purchased from the USA a fleet of Cougar armored patrol vehicles at £265,000 each -in a £30 million deal. Unfortunately they will not arrive until the end of the year so that our soldiers will still be risking their lives in their flimsy land-rovers. We have to ask WHY did not the negotiators as part of the package ask for a temporary loan of a few Cougar armored vehicles in the meantime as the US forces have had the Cougar in service in Afghanistan and Iraq for over 18 months. After all a £30,000,000 package should have had some extras attached? We have touched on one of the main reasons that the MoD is so desperately short of funds -apart from the numerous over-runs on contracts and the enormous waste on cancelled projects but the main culprit is Tony Blair’s EU -FANTASY ARMY to which considerable funds have been provided so that he can confirm his credentials as a GOOD EUROPEAN. In other words are soldiers are dying in Iraq and Afghanistan because Tony Blair invaded illegally a sovereign nation which had no contact with Al Qaeda and in fact for all its infamous reputation was a barrier against the terrorist threat. The composition of our fighting edge of our ground troops is now dependent on it maintaining its numbers by the inclusion of numbers of Commonwealth entrants because of the fall in the UK of those wishing to join the Army. A number of these new entrants have already shown their courage and tenacity. The failure of the Government’s drive for more recruits has been their politically correct agenda and treating soldiers as civilians when the proper procedure in matters on the battle field belong to the CHAIN of COMMAND in the ARMY. Our troops in Afghanistan are calling for more reinforcements and aircraft and helicopters and as they are in Afghanistan now as part of Nato they expected that the other European members would send troops. But America’s choice to involve Nato countries many of which were against the Iraq war in particular was chancy at the least as these members had no intention of following the Coalition into a quagmire which has signs of becoming another Vietnam. The attempt by Blair and Bush to get some justification for their military presence in the Middle East had fallen at the first hurdle. Finally we include a concluding extract from the Daily Mail of Thursday, September 14-2006 an article by Stephen Glover: * These men risk their lives and are paid less than cleaners But the deficiencies of Nato, which may signal the obsolescence of that organization, should not divert our attention from the betrayal of our armed forces. Almost no one, it seems to me, speaks up in their favour. Once they were central to our national life; now that have shrunk and have few defenders. The Tory Party, which was once stuffed with former servicemen, is slow to rally, and the MEDIA generally have other fish to fry. Sir Richard Dannatt, the new head of the British Army has called for a NATIONAL DEBATE -about the role of the Armed Forces. LET US HAVE ONE [And on the true costs and benefits (if any) of the EU.] I [Stephen Glover] personally questioned the wisdom of involving British troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, though one can see that they are there for a purpose. But there is no justification, only shame, in sending them off less than adequately armed and cared for, and paying them less than a cleaner for risking their lives. * * * [We can see no purpose in our troops remaining in Iraq and indeed in Afghanistan. Whatever Blair and Bush have said about the reasons for our involvement in Iraq and particularly in Afghanistan one has to ask what are their TRUE REASONS for their intervention. As both men are totally untrustworthy we can never again believe what they say. While our troops are in Iraq and Afghanistan the flames of wroth will brighten even brighter as an unstoppable avalanche of more enthusiastic recruits join to fight against the invaders and their CAUSE will PREVAIL because they are protecting their HOMELAND. For those who want Peace in the Middle East our presence in the area has created a smokescreen behind which we believe everyone as our enemy. By withdrawing our troops from the area we will be able to see behind the lifting smokescreen those who will negotiate in TRUE JUSTICE -and those who have another agenda in which COMPROMISE and PEACE -are not on offer. Until we withdraw our forces the process of healing cannot begin and the longer we stay in the area the stronger will be the resistance and the ever increasing number of our FALLEN will take their last journey home to their loved one’s who had the war been to protect THEIR FAMILY-THEIR COUNTRY -sanctioned by world opinion - they -would have grieved but understood.
