BECKETT INSULTS FALKLANDS DEAD
By

[Daily Mail-April 2-2007]
FOREIGN Secretary Margaret Beckett
outraged Falklands veterans last night by expressing .continuing regret'
over both Argentinian and British casualties during the 1982 war.
They accused her of insulting the
memory of 255 fallen comrades by putting their deaths on a par with
those of the invaders of the
FALKLAND ISLANDS
The FOREIGN Secretary was also accused
of showing weakness in the face of the resurgent nationalism in
Argentina, which is stepping up its efforts to reclaim the
ISLANDS.
[The reason for the Argentinian
invasion in 1982 was due to the mixed message given by the then Foreign
Office by the withdrawal of the survey vessel Endeavour from the South
Atlantic. Lord Carrington the Foreign Secretary at the time rightly with
honour
resigned accepting responsibility. A practice unknown in New Labour
which has allowed incompetent fools to cling to office or even
moved to more important positions where they can do even greater damage
to the country and its once good reputation abroad.
One can see that Margaret Beckett is putting out the same
mixed signal with her 'Too conciliatory' message at a time when Argentine feel
they have more chance of success with New Labour to regain the NOW
wealthy island which has developed a £20 million fishing industry and is
also exploring their potential oil prospects. We believe the Falklands
people as with the Gibraltarians need wisely to fear any British
Government and ensure their island is secure by increasing their own
defences at their own expence against a future attack. As a respected
general in the WWII said ' you need to meet them on the beeches.']
Veterans were furious that her
statement marking today's 25th anniversary of the Argentine invasion did
not mention the heroism of the UK forces who liberated the islands 74
days later, after Margaret Thatcher sent a task force.
Dr Rick Jolly, a Royal Navy surgeon
commander who won the OBE for treating hundreds of wounded men in a
field hospital, called the statement
APPALLING
-He said:
I also regret the loss of life but
what I don't regret was that we were a liberating force.
WE SHOULD BE PROUD OF WHAT WE DID.'
Tory defence spokesman Gerald Howarth
said: 'It is Mrs Beckett's apparent even-handedness between
*TYRANNY and FREEDOM
-that is unacceptable.
This statement is weak. Yes, loss of
life is regrettable, and 255 British servicemen laid down their lives to
protect sovereign British territory.'
The Government had already been
criticised for appearing uncertain about how to commemorate the
FALKLANDS VICTORY
-which contributed to Labour's crushing
defeat a year later.
[*We can only hope that he and his
colleagues in the House of Commons remember this statement when the vote
is taken on whether to ratify the
Berlin Declaration
[New European Constitution]
-or whatever other name they put to
TREASON.]
*
It initially had no plans to send a
Minister to ceremonies in Port Stanley, the Falklands capital, but since
dispatched a junior defence minister.
Mrs Beckett was already under fire
about the deadlock with Iran over the British personnel captured in the
Gulf.
And last week, a Commons committee said
she should have been sacked from her last post, as Environment
Secretary, over a farm payments 'catastrophe' which pushed thousands of
farmers to the brink of bankruptcy and will cost the taxpayers
£500,000,000
Her Falklands statement stressed the
efforts to arrange a joint commemoration of the war, in which 652
Argentines and three islanders also died.
Argentina rejected the Governments
offer of a service in London, but has accepted the chance to send
bereaved families to the Falklands for a private service later this
year.
[We feel that the Argentine Government
has more consideration for the memory of their dead and are not led by
politically-correct mantras. They must wonder how we British won the
battle of the Falklands -new Labour could never have done it . It was
down to just
ONE IRON LADY.
Margaret Thatcher
-and a still then an island people
passionate about the freedom of their fellow islanders in the South
Atlantic.
IT WAS NOT-CAN WE DO IT?
IT WAS-WE MUST DO IT.
*
Mrs Beckett said: today 'marks
the 25th anniversary of the Argentine invasion of the Falklands. The
resulting loss of life on both sides is a source of continuing regret.
'The commemoration events this year
will be a fitting and respectful tribute to all those who fought in the
1982 conflict.
'The UK remains keen to foster a
constructive relationship with Argentina, and to promote practical
co-operation both in the South Atlantic and on broader issues.'
She added: 'The principles of
FREEDOM-DEMOCRACY and SELF
DETERMINATION remain as important to us today as they did in 1982
[This from a Minister of a Government
with a Prime Minister -Tony Blair who has already signed away
FREEDOM-DEMOCRACY and SELF
DETERMINATION
on March 25-2007
in the
BERLIN DECLARATION.
and only awaiting the ratification of
