After 43 raids, am I the most burgled man in Britain?

A BUILDER whose property has been raided 43 times says he is the most burgled man in Britain.

Michael Abberley, 51, was once targeted on three occasions in a week and estimates that raiders have made off with more than £100,000 of his valuables.

He blames soft sentencing by the Courts for his predicament and says he has no choice but to set up a vigilante group in an effort to stop the thefts.

On average, father-of-three Mr Abberley and his wife Barbara, 47, have been raided once every six months since 1981.

He spoke out last night after thieves broke into his car and took a £300 minidisc player.

Mr Abberley of Cannock, Staffordshire, says many of the raids have been on garden sheds or his work van. Others had included stereos taken from his family’s cars.

He said his biggest loss came 13 years ago when £14,000 worth of goods were taken from his house while the family were away.

After one burglary, POLICE arrived to board up the property but the burglars broke in again.

The same thing happened again and after the third raid the house was all but empty.

‘I HAVE LOST FAITH IN THE

 [SO-CALLED]

JUSTICE SYSTEM’

[And no doubt particularly in the forces of so-called

LAW and ORDER.]

He said:

‘ I am the most burgled man in Britain. I can’t think of anyone who has had it worse. We’ve been done over 40 times in 20 years and It just won’t stop.’

He described the burglars as:

 ‘the scum of the earth’ and as layabouts who have never done a day’s work in the pathetic lives’.

BUT he added that they only ever receive a slap on the wrist’ IF they are caught.

‘I have lost all faith in the justice system. Magistrates and Judges have the power to lock these people away BUT they will NOT DO IT.’

The first raid came in 1981 on a shop Mr Abberley ran with his wife. The following year the couple, who have three daughters-Julie, 26, Kelly,23, and Gemma,20 – were burgled at home for the first time.

Over the following years Mr Abberley’s tools were stolen from a locked shed on a number of occasions before the family moved to escape the problem.

In 1991, the crime wave resumed. By now, the tradesman was locking his tools in the van, but the thieves still got them.

Then came the three raids in a week. At the time, the Abberley’s were touring the band club circuit as a keyboard and singing act.

Mr Abberley believes he was targeted by local criminals who knew he had valuable tools and expensive musical equipment.

The family moved twice more, but the crimes continued, including three house burglaries.

In 2001 they decided on a fresh start in the Canary Islands, but returned after failing to settle.  MORE THEFTS FOLLOWED.

He is forming a vigilante group with around 20 other local victims of crime to patrol the neighbourhood. Mr Abberley warned:

‘Let’s just say we will be nasty pieces of work if we need to.  We intend on being very PRO-ACTIVE.

Inspector Matt Derrick of Cannock Police Station said he was ‘saddened’ by Mr Abberley’s intentions.

He added:

‘No matter how honourable a person’s intentions are if they stray over and above the law, that action will not be tolerated’.

[BUT the answer is with the POLICE in doing their job of catching criminals and by not doing so they are themselves answerable to the community at large and are therefore by their inaction accessory to the crimes committed by permitting the free roaming of criminals on their patch.

The obvious answer is the return of the

Bobbie-on-the-Beat

in every village in the land.

Failing this there should be a full-time

Special Constable

which requires no legislation as the law is already on the

Statute Book]

AFTER months of torment from a GANG of YOBS, grandmother Diane Bond [of all 5ft 1in] finally stood up to them when she was taunted while walking her dog.

Subjected to a torrent of foulmouthed abuse, the frail 64-year-old prodded the teenager ring leader gently in the stomach when he urged her

‘HIT ME, If YOU DARE’.

Moments later, the 5ft 1 in pensioner found herself flat on her back and nursing a broken arm after the 15 year-old boy, who was seven inches taller, pushed her to the ground.

But that was just the start of her ordeal. A few hours’ later police officers arrived at her door and hauled her off to the station for three hours of questioning under caution.

[This must have given the YOB concerned and his following a great satisfaction and the knowledge that he was untouchable even if he assaulted a frail woman who had been provoked beyond endurance after so much abuse.

The police must be aware that their action has reinforced the already over confident YOBS unsavoury behaviour which will encourage them to greater nuisance and much worse.

The GANG of YOBS in question no doubt has been in existence for months possibly longer as its arrogance seems to confirm.  So what we must ask what  had the police been doing in the meantime –it appears NOTHING. ]

She must report to a police station 30 miles from her home in Llandrindod Wells, Powys, Wales, at the end of the month to find out if she will be charged with assaulting the youth.

Last night the retired lab technician spoke of her distress.  ‘I am in shock and very, very teary,’ she said.  ‘I have never been in trouble before.

‘I just want to enjoy my evenings walking my dog in peace. I am being treated like a criminal because a gang of yobs have nothing better to do than pick on an old lady.’

Residents of her street have complained to the police and council for several months about the youths causing anti-social behaviour.

[There has been much talk recently about the Muslim community and the views held about the Family and their religious beliefs and the desire of a significant number who would like punishment according to their religious code.

What we have in England is a system of punishment –some may question if one could call it that which many people particularly the elderly find as so succinctly described by the

Home Secretary John Reid as

NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE!

As a secular State which has distanced itself from supporting the Traditional Family and its proven benefit to families and stability of the STATE and the introduction of so-called RIGHT’S of the CRIMINALS and YOBS and the curse of PC there is now a growing backlash in progress.  Many millions of the elderly have already given up hope as witnessed by the growing numbers now living abroad.

We heard in the Mail a few days ago that we are one of the most wealthiest but one the most unhappy people out of 25 other countries –coming fifth from the end whereas religious countries such as Spain are towards the top in having a happy family lifestyle.]

The calls from the Muslim people are a timely reminder of how far the country has lost its way in its once - more valued community spirit of fair-play and greater adhesion against CRIME and the need for

JUST PUNISHMENT.

Sharia Law is not the answer for our island but there is a critical need for a return to those FAMILY VALUES and dare we say it RELIGIOUS VALUES from our PAST which we have discarded to our great cost and unless reversed quickly will continue to make life

for many

In the latest letter to Powys County Council, they said they had suffered an ‘endless stream’ of damage to property and cars. Intimidation, noise and rubbish being hurled into gardens by up to 30 youths aged 11-17.

Things came to a head when Mrs Bond, who has two children and five grandchildren, took her terrier Hettie for a walk on parkland near her home.

She said a group of about 20 teenagers were loitering on the grass. Three others were standing on a path, deliberately blocking her way.

‘As I approached they started shouting abuse at me,’ she said.  ‘They were taunting me and crowding round me and I was quite frightened because they were big kids.

‘After a while one of them whose name id Billy, spread his arms out wide to show his stomach, and said,

“Come on , old lady, hit me, if you dare”

‘I gave him three prods, almost like playful punches, not hard at all, and the next thing I knew I was lying on the ground and had broken my arm. I went back home, shaking and crying.’

Soon after, two police officers knocked on Mrs Bond’s door and arrested her on suspicion of assaulting a minor. ‘It seemed the lad had told his mum what had happened and she had immediately lodged a complaint of assault,’ she said.

Mrs Bond, a divorcee who has lived in the town for 20 years was cautioned and interviewed for nearly three hours by police officers before she was released on bail at about 1.30am.

She has now made  a counter-allegation to the police of assault against the youth. But she added:

‘This sends out the message that if you stand up for yourself, if you try to take action to stop anti-social behaviour, you are likely to end up being arrested.’

Roger Williams, Lib Dem MP for Brecon and Radnorshire, said:

‘I would have expected the POLICE to have acted more proportionately than arresting Mrs Bond over this.’

‘It must have been a frightening situation for an elderly lady

 to be confronted by a

GANG of YOBS,

without the

POLICE

compounding the problem.’

Chief Inspector Steve Hughson, of Dyfed-Powys Police said:

‘’Recent patrols in the area have greatly reduced incidents of CRIME and ANTI-SOCIAL behaviour.’

The FORCE declined to comment on Mrs Bond’s ARREST.

[We have a question for the

CHIEF CONSTABLE – When he talks about patrols in the area are we to assume that he is referring to vehicles visiting the area. If he is - that is typical of the response to be expected. It’s a question of

As the millions of victims of crime in the country have asked:

Officers ‘sided with hooligans.

THE ladies of the Belle isle bingo club summoned police when youths began kicking a football against their church hall’s window shutters.

The noise had gone on for 45 minutes when the women, all in their 70’s and 80’s made the call then marched out and confiscated the ball.

They were amazed when, a few minutes later, two uniformed officers arrived at the Belle Isle United Reformed Church in Leeds and ordered them to give the ball back.

‘I was stunned.’ Said grandmother-of-two Shirley Ramskill, 70. ‘I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. Maybe they thought they were doing their job, but in my opinion [and that of the majority of sane people in the country] they weren’t.

When you call the POLICE you expect them to side with you, not the culprits.’

The women who have met at the church for the last 20 years, have written to West Yorkshire Police’s Chief Constable Colin Cramphorn

to complain.

‘I can’t tell you how disappointed I am by what has happened.’ Added Mrs Ramskill. ‘We said we wanted an apology from the group, but one officer said they wouldn’t do that and advised us just to give them the ball back as it was a criminal offence to keep it. We certainly won’t be calling them in a hurry.’

[BUT Mrs Ramskill this is exactly what they want you to do as the POLICE in general have lost heart in the present system –if you can call it that and those in AUTHORITY know they will not obtain promotion unless they keep to the lunatic ideas of their political masters.]

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said the youths involved were spoken to in front of their parents and advised about their behaviour.

[Well will anyone take a bet that the talking too will have had any affect on those youngsters? We hope it would but the chances are not worth betting on as witnessed by the countless confrontations taking place in possibly almost every parish in the country. Driving many people to great despair –ill health and those at the end of their tether because the POLICE ignored their appeals for help - to suicide.

From most people’s experience over the last nine years of Blairdom the odds against those YOBS returning to pursue their loutish behaviour are too high for even a betting man.

The answer to the problem is for the Chief Constable to be elected by the local community and if the individual does not do the job the local people expect him to perform –then they can sack him. The present police system is too close to their political masters and their political interference.

It is said that our first great LAW GIVER-Alfred the Great - laid it down that every free man in the realm must be a member of a group or association and that each member should be gegylden which means literally Sharers –in-paying; the idea being if a member would

 be held responsible for the fine inflicted on the wrongdoer. As a consequence each member of the association took very good care to see no other member did break the law.

The principle was expanded and strengthened by most of the Anglo-Saxon Kings and by the Danish Overlords until the coming of the Normans.  The Norman system in itself was not unlike the Anglo-Saxon one; in fact the principle of mutual responsibility was restated in the Norman law of Frankpledge.

What is lacking in 2006 is that responsibility at local and even street level to bond together to fight the anti-social element and other criminals which now plague our communities.  The majority of householders just ignore the mayhem out on their streets until they themselves are directly affected. The few do what they can to protect particularly the vulnerable in society and for their trouble are branded troublemakers.

What is surprising is that so many young children some barely old enough for attendance at school are loose on the streets late at night. What are the parents doing or not doing to allow their children to roam and in the majority of cases to cause mischief to the old, vulnerable and sick and the neighbourhood in general. And as shown in the cases mentioned above it is the VICTIMS who get the strong arm of the Law and not the YOBS with their instinctive reply

WE KNOW OUR RIGHT’S

Some people have as indicated in the above article set up their own Vigilante group in order to deter the rising anti-social and other criminals in their area.  The POLICE give the usual warning and then get back to their statistics and PC lectures while the crime-wave outside their block-houses reaches pandemic levels.

The POLICE are regrettably useless to combat crime as the Prime Minister Tony Blair mentioned the other day the YOBS rule the STREETS  and the POLICE have already given up the streets by withdrawing the policeman from his traditional patch and replacing him with a tardy motorised armoured patrol which on its possible arrival at the crime scene puts the

VICTIM in the DOCK.
