THE
MAD PARLIAMENT
*
Shouts of 'prat drowned him out
by

Yesterday in Parliament
[Daily Mail, Thursday, April 19,2007]
UNLESS it protects the rights of
the individual Members of Parliament - it means nothing.
UNLESS the authorities ensure
the loner is HEARD as fairly as the tribalist, the principle of elected
democracy snaps.
That us WHY I must seize my trusty
frying pan, lift it high, and again bring it down smartly on the head of
the Rt Hon Michael Martin, Speaker of the House of Commons. Our old
friend G.Mick.
Mr Martin did not just lose CONTROL of
Prime Minister's Question Time. There are times when he did not even try
to IMPOSE ORDER.
That Tony Blair and David Cameron
traded noisy insults need not worry us. Mr Cameron won a bout of
exchanges about pensions. Mr Blair then won a return shindig on the
matter of Labour Party leadership.
Nor need we fret about the high level
of heckling thrown at Mr Cameron by the Labour benches. As leader of the
Opposition he must expect a measure of hoo-hah. His own MPs bray at Mr
Blair, after all.
Mr Cameron showed himself able to
return the compliment. His first remarks on pensions were interrupted by
the well-fed Labour veteran, ken purchase (Wolverhampton NE).
Mr Cameron swivelled in Mr Purchase's
direction and immediately pointed out that although old Ken is in line
for a fat parliamentary pension not all Britons are so fortunate.
A balloon pricked, will go
pppfffarrting off into the distance. Mr Purchase did much the same.
But none of this need trouble us. What
was rank about Speaker Martin's behaviour occurred later when two
LibDems tried to speak.
The first was Norman Baker (lewes), Mr
Baker is , one may assert with confidence, the MP least popular with
fellow parliamentarians.
WHY?
-because he is a bore with a comb-over
haircut?
NO
-it is because Mr Baker believes MPs
pocket too much public money
[YOUR MONEY]
He thinks they should be open,
particularly on the matter of expenses. many MPs therefore think him a
traitor
The moment he stood to ask his
pre-allotted question, Labour MPs started to scream. Among them, you may
not be surprised to hear, was a certain Ken Purchase, fresh-emboldened
by the
[RAT] PACK HOWLING ALL AROUND
THE NOISE WAS ASTONISHING
Even though Mr Baker had a microphone
nearby his voice was lost in the clamour.
There were shouts of 'prat' and 'cheer
up, Norman' and 'oh no! and 'siddown'.
Bending as near low to the loudspeaker
I caught only tiny snatches of Mr Baker's question.
IT CONCERNED THE POWERS
OF
AN OVER MIGHTY STATE
Given the noise, Mr Baker was
understandably taking it slowly. Too long!' yelled Labour voices. there
must have been
100 MPS
-shouting at him, some going red in
the face.
Come, come, you say, it was only a bit
of fun.
I DON'T AGREE
I suggest it must have been physically
frightening for Mr Baker to stand there, separated only by a few feet
from so many top-volume voices and so much flying spittle.
Mr Blair could not hear clearly what
was going on. Nor could the Speaker. He was screwing up his eyes and
leaning towards his own loudspeakers.
SO WHY DID MR MARTIN NOT CALL
ORDER!
Why did he nor stop the thugs?
Was it not his duty to do so?
A few minutes later Simon Hughes
(LibDem, N Southwark) had the floor. He, too, was heckled beyond any
acceptable level. Labour MPs even hissed him.
HISSED!
He was asking a serious question about
pensions.
DO LABOUR VOTERS EXPECT THEIR TRIBUNES
TO HISS SUCH QUESTIONS?
Again, Mr Speaker let this happen,
WORSE, he sided actively with the hecklers when he told Mr Hughes (who
had been struggling with the interruptions)
THAT HIS QUESTION HAD GONE ON TOO LONG
Just moments earlier the same Speaker
had allowed a sycophantic Labour MP , Kitty Ussher (Burnley) to ask a
question that was at least as long.
Some partisans claim that I dislike
Speaker Martin because he is a working-class Scot.
BALLS!
I disapprove of him because he is
INCOMPETENT
AND
POSSIBLY EVEN A BIASED BULLY
HE IS A BLIGHT ON PARLIAMENT
A BLOCKAGE IN THE WORKS
A BAR TO A FAIR AND HONEST
POLITICS.
[WE AGREE-THE MAN IS A SLOBBERING
IDIOT AS ARE THOSE WHO 'S SPITTLE DISHONOURS THE VENERABLE PLACE THEY
ARE UNWORTHY TO ENTER. THE ANGER OF THE THUGGISH EXCUSES FOR
REPRESENTATIVES OF THE PEOPLE IS NOT HARD TO EXPLAIN. THEY KNOW THEIR
DAYS ARE NUMBERED AND HAVE LOST THEIR CONTROL. THEIR CONSTITUENTS SHOULD
SEE THEY RECEIVE THEIR JUST DESSERTS - ON THE DOLE
TAKING WHAT WE HAVE SEEN OVER THE PAST
TEN YEARS THEY ALL CERTAINLY ARE INDEED
