Police 'kept in dark' on
suspicions about 7/7 ringleader.
by
Sean O'Neill and Sam Coates
THE TIMES
[Wednesday May 2 -2007]
SENIOR officers from Mohammad Sidique
Khan's local police force will be asked to give evidence in secret to a
new INQUIRY
-into
INTELLIGENCE
-failures before the 7/7 bombings,
The Times
has learnt.
West Yorkshire Police were not called
before the Intelligence and Security Committee when it conducted its
review of the handling of intelligence last year.
BUT
-reports that the force was not told by
MI5 that Khan who led the 2005 suicide attacks in London was under
suspicion as a terrorist a year earlier will be investigated in a review
ordered by the prime Minister.
"The Committee was told clearly that
West Yorkshire had been informed, so this is an issue that will be
raised,"
-a Committee source said.
The ISC's other main focus will be
whether
MI5
made the right judgement in switching
surveillance away from Khan to other suspects. The West Yorkshire force
declined to comment as the ISC announced that it had accepted an
invitation from Mr Blair to re -examine the handling of the
INTELLIGENCE.
The full extent of the links between
the 7/7 bombers and other Islamist terrorists was revealed on Monday
when five men were jailed for life at the
OLD BAILEY
-for planning to build a 1,300lb
fertiliser bomb to attack a nightclub or shopping centre.
Khan and Shehzad Tanweer his right
-hand man, had been under surveillance in the company of the fertiliser
bomb plotters 16 months before they attacked
LONDON.
It has also become clear that Khan's
name had featured TWICE
in
MI5 INVESTIGATIONS
-as the owner of a car that MI5
followed and of a phone used to call Omar Khyam, the ringleader of the
fertiliser plot. But the review is unlikely to
SILENCE
-the growing clamour for a
PUBLIC or INDEPENDENT INQUIRY
*
[The complaint that the Security
Services had insufficient resources shows how the Government takes the
task of
DEFENCE of the REALM
-there should NEVER AGAIN be such a
situation that the question of
COST
-and the question of numbers ever
raises its head again.
As with other political organisations
and particularly those who like ourselves wish our country to
WITHDRAW
FROM THE
EUROPEAN UNION
We have been bugged for some time
and they make no secret of it by interrupting conversations and the
latest technique which means that when answering a phone in a different
part of the house conversations can be heard from another part of the
house while taking that call. Even our callers are taken aback at this
example of
BIG BROTHER
-surveillance and wonder how it is that
using a phone in one part of the house picks up TV and conversations in
the other.
Apart from the deliberate interference
of our communications it may be another miracle of surveillance is
nothing more than an intelligence beginner learning his trade -we will
never know!
IN OTHER WORDS THEY WANT US TO KNOW
THEY ARE LISTENING AND NO DOUBT WATCHING US.
*
To return to the Times article:
Survivors of the 7/7 attacks delivered
a letter to the
HOME SECRETARY
-yesterday requesting a
PUBLIC INQUIRY
while David Cameron added his voice to
calls for
AN INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATION.
[As we have mentioned before there
should be a small supervising 'Smiley' unit of impeachable
former security intelligence officers and others of
INTEGRITY and HONESTY
-and certainly NOT those individuals
who agree to our lose of
FREEDOM
-won over a thousand years as
PATRIOTISM
-is a MUST with so many traitors within
our midst who have almost consigned
ALL OUR
FREEDOMS and LIBERTIES
TO A
FOREIGN POWER.

Questions have been raised about the
credibility of the ISC, which is appointed by Mr Blair, in conducting a
review. Paul Murphy MP, its chairman, has already expressed his belief
that there were
"no culpable failures by the
SECURITY and INTELLIGENCE AGENCIES"
*
[Well the history of the ISC over the
Blair years does not have a good record for being tenacious in their
approach to investigating the
SECURITY SERVICES
We watched Mr Murphy on 4News and he
was on the defensive and used the old trick of showing distain to the
questions he was asked and further more when things got to hot for him
he used the cover of protesting at the alleged allegation that his
colleagues on the ISC where not honourable and trustworthy in their
deliberations. As we have said on a number of occasions the ISC should
be formed by the House of Commons and given the same status as the
National Audit Office as being an
INDEPENDENT BODY
answerable to
PARLIAMENT.
The Prime Minister of the day would
need to obtain any information about
SECURITY
from the spokesman of that
INDEPENDENT COMMITTEE
Had that committee been in existence
ten years ago there would not have been an
IRAQ WAR
or
JULY 7 BOMBINGS
Members of the Committee would be
selected for their HONESTY and INTEGRITY and experience in getting to
the TRUTH of the MATTER which over time would impress on MI5 and MI6
that they had better not cover up any misdoings and to help this along
the Committee will have a 'SMILEY' character attached to both SERVICES in
order to oversee that SECURITY SERVICE. We have heard since 2005 a
number of allegations about the credibility and loyalty of the MI6 in
particular -which stinks and we need someone like the Liberal Democrat
Mr Norman Baker to be a likely candidate for the 'Smiley' position in
that Service.]
*
Last year the ISC concluded that MI5's
decision not to investigate two of the bombers after they featured in an
earlier bomb plot was
"understandable"
In the immediate aftermath of Monday's
verdicts at the
OLD BAILEY
-Mr Murphy said he was satisfied that
"the facts in our report stand"
Lord King of Bridgewater, a former
chairman of the ISC, expressed concerns about the independence of the
committee from the
GOVERNMENT
He said that it should be chaired by a
member of the Opposition
[Mr Norman Baker would be excellent for the
job]
and have more powers.
[Same powers of independence as the NAO.]
David Davis, the Shadow Home Secretary,
echoed the view that the committee was not sufficiently independent.
In a letter to the Home Secretary, he
wrote:
"The difficulty with the ISC review is
that it lacks any independent investigative capacity and would be
required to assess itself. In addition, any authoritative inquiry should
be apolitical and include no serving politicians."
The Tories want an
INDEPENDENT INQUIRY
-that could begin immediately, be
concluded in months rather than years, cost less than a
PUBLIC INQUIRY
-and would not prejudice continuing
trials.
Nick Clegg, the Liberal Democrat Home
Affairs spokesman , said:
"Paul Murphy's apparent dismissal of
the need for a further investigation before his own committee has
taken its review -is pre-emptive and will only help strengthen the case
that the
INTELLIGENCE and SECURITY COMMITTEE
-needs be given greater
INDEPENDENCE
-in order to conduct its own
investigations and the power to call witnesses."
Rachel North, who survived the
PICCADILLY LINE BLAST
-said that the ISC was in no position
to conduct any inquiry into failures of
INTELLIGENCE
"The last ISC report was done by people
who were handpicked by the
PRIME
MINISTER
To report to the
PRIME
MINISTER.
[AND IT BEGGARS BELIEF THAT]
IT HELD its MEETING in SECRET
THE RIGHT QUESTIONS WERE NOT ASKED
AND THE EVIDENCE WAS INCOMPLETE.
[And Mr Murphy wonders WHY HIS
COMMITTEE does NOT have the confidence of the PUBLIC.
What is the point of MI5 investigating
itself behind closed doors?
Is it any wonder that the public has
losing trust?
Miss North was among the delegation
of survivors who handed in a letter , signed by 50 people , to the Home
Office.
