LOSS of TRUST in NEW LABOUR

THE PUBLIC has lost trust in the Government, Britain’s top civil servant declared yesterday.

 

In his first week as Cabinet Secretary, Sir Gus O’Donnell said more must be done to bolster support from voters.

 

[Well our answer is that New Labour need to clean out their stable of all the smelly and rotting carcasses which have been allowed to remain in their stable for over eight years.

They have promised so many times to comply with Regulations and clean out offending mess but their promises are no longer believed so why don’t they either get a new untainted man at the top who will be believed -quickly -or it will be too late and they WILL have to close down.]

His words echoed a warning from Parliament’s sleaze watchdog a day earlier that trust in the Government had not recovered since the [illegal] Iraq war.

 

It is unusual for the head of the Civil Service to openly cast such doubt on the ability of Ministers and Officials to maintain the trust of the public.

 

[What trust can there be in a system that rewards Traitors - Liars and Deceitfulness and at the same time harasses a devoted and patriotic and honourable civil servant to his death.]

 

Sir Gus said he agreed with Sir Alistair Graham, chairman of the Committee on Standards in Pubic Life, who said there was no revival of ‘trust in government’ because Ministers ‘want to control everything’.

 

[There can be NO trust in government until the Prime Minister resigns and ALL those who have been rewarded for their wrongdoing join him.

 

Those who have been rewarded with a safe haven in the Lords or MI6 or elsewhere should also be publicly and ceremoniously stripped of their regalia of office and pensions, as would have been the case for cowardice or desertion before the enemy.

 

The relatives of those soldiers who have died and those injured in Iraq should be present to see JUSTICE done which is long overdue. It appears that Politicians take the view that they are immune from punishment since the Glorious Revolution of 1668 because they have the Cabinet system to hide behind.

 

We don’t tolerate discredited professionals -whether Doctor or Social Worker or whoever so WHY should we tolerate those members of a Cabinet who’s decisions lead to an illegal war and many deaths and injured of innocent citizens at home and in Iraq?

 

 

 

Politicians in a Government who have crossed the line in the sand which Convention has always held sacrosanct - then Impeachment and withdrawal of honours and places must now follow in order for the public to regain respect for Government.

 

Prompt resignations of ALL the guilty will be the only way to help restore the public confidence in Government.

‘But where I strongly agree with Alistair is that on this business of trust I think it’s one of these things we need to keep working on. How we can enhance trust?

His words will be taken seriously at No 10 [WE doubt it] where officials have been concerned by what former chief spin doctor Alistair Campbell called ‘the trust thing’.

 

They will be angry that Sir Gus has revived memories of the dodgy dossier that was found to have given a false picture of Saddam Hussein’s weapons of mass destruction programmes and the attempt to cover up Government involvement in the identification of weapons expert Dr David Kelly.

 

Sir Gus also hinted he would not tolerate Mr Blair’s informal ‘sofa style’ of government, which was criticized in the Butler Report on the decisions that led up to the [illegal] Iraq war.

 

The report denounced the way that top-level meetings were held without minutes being taken and advice from officials was often ignored by Mr Blair’s inner circle.

 

Sir Gus, who described himself as ‘quite traditional’ spoke out as he visited civil servants across the Capital.

[We need to remind ourselves and Sir Gus that it was a Cabinet Secretary in the early days of the reign of King Tony who changed the rules in his boss’s autocratic favour. So the head of the Civil Service needs to ensure that this will never happen again because the most tragic event directly responsible to the change of the traditional safeguard led to the ‘cosy’ inner circle and an illegal war on Iraq. ]
