ROLL OF DISHONOUR
IS YOUR MP A MEMBER OF THIS BAND OF
BLATANT BETRAYERS
OF
OPENNESS
A total of 78 Labour MPs and 18 Tories
backed the
FREEDOM of INFORMATION
(Amendment) Bill's third reading
-Which enables
MPs to keep their expenses SECRET in a country which has access to
everyone else as detailed in the original Act of Parliament.
As we have indicated previously we need
a change closer to the American model whereby our Representatives are
replaced at shorter intervals and not permitted to get their nose in the
trough for too long which is what has happened now in our once respected
and accountable
HOUSE of COMMONS
We wish to see more opportunity for
fellow subjects to give their time to serving their country and a system
as follows will help that process:
No MP should be permitted to hold
office for more than
ONE TERM of PARLIAMENT
but may be permitted to return if
adopted for a term on each alternative period of office.
What would this achieve? -It would
really mean that those who wish to represent their constituents and
country would indeed be true
'Servants of the People'
-as their reasons for being there are
to be of service and not to stay in their well-paid occupation for as
long as they can .
Under this system many people who are
not able to devote their lives to political activity would consider
ONE TERM
-as an opportunity to put something
back into their country.
The present system has led to such
arrogance that many members of
YOUR HOUSE OF COMMONS
no longer hide their contempt for those
they represent and who wish to know how much their representatives cost
them and what value they were to the community and country.
You will be told that only by having
people in office for many years will they be of greater value to the
community. the last ten years has made a mockery of that assumption. In
fact MPs knowing that they were unable to return to the House at the
next election would be more free to state their true feelings about
matters which in the case of the last decade would have prevented the
illegal war in Iraq and our interference in other areas which has made
our country less respected and under terrorist attack by those who no
longer have faith in their adopted country.

Shameful day for Democracy
by
Ian Drury
[Daily Mail-Saturday, May 19,2007]
ANGER as MPs
VOTE
TO KEEP THEIR SPENDING
A SECRET
FROM YOU.
MPs provoked outrage yesterday
[Friday, May 18-2007] after they voted to exclude themselves from
FREEDOM OF INFORMATION
LAWS.
Critics called the move a 'squalid' bid
to shroud Parliamentary expenses and allowances in secrecy, saying that
it was
'a dark day for democracy'
Nearly 100 MPs -including at least 20
Labour ministers-backed the 'shameful' plans to torpedo right-to -know
rules, with only 25 opposing them.
[Well in a case like this those MPs who
did not oppose the Bill are as guilty as those who came out in the open
to support the Bill. As when the great 18th century parliamentarian
Edmund Burke said
:
'When bad men combine, the good must
associate; else they will fall, one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a
contemptible struggle.'
[Thoughts of the Cause of the present
Discontents]
-a good title don't you think?
Despite
promises by Gordon Brown to make
GOVERNMENT
-'more open and accountable'
-once he enters Downing Street, several
of the Chancellor's key allies trooped into the COMMONS to support the
exclusion.
The Freedom of Information (Amendment)
Bill was introduced by the Conservative back-bencher David Maclean in a
bid to protect private letters between MPs and their constituents from
FOI requests.
Mr Maclean claims the move would
prevent correspondence from falling into the hands of 'criminals or the
BNP'.
[This statement is a bit rich
considering that many once Conservative and Labour voters have gone to
the BNP because the main parties would not listen to their worries on
many important matters which only recently the main parties have
realised that the stigma of 'racism' had prevented many important issues
from discussion and action.]
But opponents claim the
Freedom of Information Act
introduced in 2005 already prevents the
disclosure of confidential letters containing personal data. They say
the real reason behind the move is to conceal embarrassing details about
MPs expenses and allowances.
Earlier this year, many MPs -including
Speaker Michael Martin - were furious when they were forced to reveal
travel expenses totalling hundreds of thousands of pounds..
Under the Bill, MPs will also be exempt
from disclosing their correspondence to public bodies including
councils, hospitals and police forces.
Liberal Democrat MP Norman
Baker, who
spearheaded the opposition, said:
'This is a terrible day for
parliamentary democracy.'
-I feel
ashamed to be an MP. This makes us look smug, self-serving and out of
touch and eager to cloak ourselves in secrecy.'
'It is effrontery for the House of
Commons to make the deeply hypocritical move of exemption itself from a
law that applies to every other public body in the country
'it is also deeply undemocratic that
MPs on both the Government and Conservative benches have collaborated to
ensure those with a contrary view, fighting for open government, were
silenced after barely any debate on amendments to the Bill.'
Mr Baker has now vowed to formally
complain to the Speaker that critics were muzzled', claiming many
backbenchers were barred from speaking against the Bill.
Only Mr Maclean spoke in its favour.
He said the
debate had been
'stitched up'
-by the House
of Commons Commission -which includes Mr Maclean and Speaker Martin
-and which battled Information Commissioner Richard Thomas over
releasing details of expenses.
Many critics have also said Mr
Maclean's Private Member's Bill was given 'surprising' support by the
two Deputy Speakers chairing the debate.
Sylvia Heal and Sir Michael Lord
allowed two 'closer' motions, which stops opponents wrecking the Bill by
talking it out.
The last time two closer votes were
allowed on a Friday in the Commons was on May 6, 1988-almost 20 years
ago.
[So it was fixed-what does that say
about our supposed democracy? It makes one want to puke at the revolting
sickening self-interest of some of the most highly rewarded persons in
our society]

As we recounted above those who chose
to stand back in unanimity are themselves as guilty as those who came
clean as to stand back and not declare is as culpable as taking the side
of the MOTION.

Life every man holds dear; but the

RENUNCIATION of EU CITIZENSHIP
http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Optout
Details from petition creator
With the signing of the Maastricht
Treaty the people of Britain were given
DUAL CITIZENSHIP
-both
EUROPEAN and BRITISH
The extra tier of citizenship was
thrust upon the people without their consent -and in many cases
knowledge.
The PEOPLE of GREAT BRITAIN should be
allowed the option of opting out of the EUROPEAN CITIZENSHIP if they so
wish. The GOVERNMENT will then be able to provide those who have opted
out with
BRITISH DOCUMENTATION
-only such as British (not EU)
passports, driving licences and other national documents.
EU laws will also NOT APPLY to those who
HAVE OPTED OUT OF EUROPEAN CITIZENSHIP
