SLAVERY NOT WITHIN THE LAW OF ENGLAND FOR ANYONE! -NOT EVEN MUSLIMS.

 

[Over two centuries ago a black slave in chains in a ship in English waters was freed by the Lord Chief Justice of England as such a condition as exemplified by the complainant was an affront to the

 

LAW OF ENGLAND.

 

So WHY is not the Government using the ample laws on the Statute book to ensure that NO forced marriages are permitted in future as the practice is not lawful and should be vigorously outlawed and the Government should be itself asked to explain WHY there is

 

ONE

 

 

RULE OR SUPREMACY OF LAW

 

for the majority and NONE for those who wish to enslave another in a forced Marriage.

It should be remembered that there have been a number of murders carried out against unwilling brides with also much harsh treatment and dire threats to others. Their numbers are in hundreds possible greater so the scale of the abominable practice is extensive and cannot be hidden by denying its terrifying affect on those innocent victims.

 

We in our island home were responsible in the preceding hundred years before the American Declaration of Independence for our ships carried 3,000,000 African slaves to the new world and threw another 250,000 into the Atlantic as they died in their ships.

 

In 1807 a Bill was passed to repress the Slave Trade and later in 1833 SLAVERY was abolished throughout the Empire.

 

In America in Jan. 1863 Abraham Lincoln issued a proclamation abolishing slavery.

 

In 1864 the American Congress passes the Thirteenth Amendment abolishing slavery and sends it to State legislatures for adoption.

 

And as the speech by the American president Abraham Lincoln at Gettysburg the Civil War battlefield April 1865 so clearly stated:

 

‘We are met on a great battlefield of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field as a final resting place of those who here gave their lives that that nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this. But, in a larger sense, we cannot dedicate, we cannot consecrate, we cannot hallow, this ground. The brave men, living and dead, whom struggled here, have consecrated it far above our poor power to add or detract.

 

The world will little note nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what did here. It is for us, the living, rather to be dedicated here to the unfinished work, which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced.

The war ended in the complete overthrow of the slave-owning South.

 

[The assassination of President Lincoln in 1865 hampered the reconciliation of the South with the North for fifty years until a Southerner Woodrow Wilson became President. The economic state of the South was only greatly improved in the 1970’s with the civil rights movement.

 

In the two World Wars millions died for the right of self-determination and the vital principle that Slavery will not be permitted to exist in the land of the FREE.

A reminder from a past Prime Minster to a Prime Minister today in June 2006 who appears to take no heed of any warnings from the past about the great evil of SLAVERY.

Forced marriage U-turn

 

Ministers cave in to Muslim opposition

PLANS to make forced marriage a specific criminal offence have been dropped by Ministers in the face of protests from Britain’s Muslim community.

 

The Government unveiled its proposals two years ago amid a great fanfare. It was suggested that anyone arranging or encouraging forced marriages should face a jail sentence.

 

BUT yesterday the Home Office admitted it would not be pursuing the plans.

 

The Muslim Council of Britain opposed the proposals claiming they would see children having to give evidence at their parents’ trials, and could lead to the Muslim community being further ‘ stigmatised’.

 

[We are at a loss to understand WHY if forced marriages are not a part of the culture of our country WHY it is necessary to have another law to outlaw the practice. It should be simple in that unless the participating partners to a marriage are in total agreement then the marriage CANNOT be lawfully recognised.]

 

Ministers have admitted they feared a new law would be ‘resented as an intrusion into minority cultures and religions’.

 

But charities and campaigners voiced bitter disappointment over the U-turn. They accused Ministers of grabbing headlines over the issue but failing to take action.

 

Thousands of young-predominately Muslim-women are thought to be subjected to forced marriages each year, although the TRUE scale of the problem is unknown.

 

‘Ignoring the views of victims’

 

Even when cases come to light the police often struggle to press charges against family members, wile women who dare to run away typically become outcasts -often pursued by professional bounty hunters

-hired by the their families-some cases have led to honour killings [doesn’t this injustice bring back to mind the harsh treatment given to the run-a-way slave of by-gone days -as now in forced marriages or as shown recently in the plight of young girls looking for a life in the West forced into prostitution]

 

A special Foreign Office unit has helped more than 1,250 women since it was set up six years ago, rescuing up to 200 a year from abroad. Most cases involve South Asian countries but officials have seen examples from Africa, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and even the US.

 

Ministers first announced proposals 18 months ago to criminalize pressurising anyone into marrying under duress, or encouraging or arranging for a person to travel abroad for he purpose of a forced marriage.

 

But yesterday Home Office Minister Baroness Scotland said no such crime will be created.

 

The Muslim Council of Britain said criminalizing forced marriages was not the solution, as it would lead to children having to take their parents to court.

 

Dr Reefat Crabu, who chairs the council’s social and family affairs committee, told a recent conference:

 

-that forced marriages could be dealt with using existing laws.

 

He warned that creating a new offence could become ‘another way to further stigmatise our communities’.

 

But the Children’s Charity NSPCC voiced disappointment as the plans were dropped.

 

Its head of Policy and Public Affairs Diana Sutton, said:

 

‘The coercion involved in forced marriage is abusive. We know that forced marriage can have serious harmful consequences for children including physical, emotional and sexual abuse, kidnap, rape and self-harm.

 

‘In the most tragic cases it can result in murder and suicide.

 

‘In the longer term many women forced into marriage suffer domestic violence, whose impact on children is now widely documented.’

 

Shadow Home Secretary David Davis said:

 

‘The Government seems to be ignoring the views of the victims of this abhorrent practice. We remain to be convinced that Ministers will use their existing powers to stamp out this degrading and vile practice.’

 

He said the Government’s eagerness to launch a campaign even though the new law was later shelved suggested that Ministers were ‘more interested I grabbing head-lines than delivering results.

[The Government by being aware for some time of the abominable practice of forced marriages and the tragic consequences which result and deciding not to implement new law must now take full responsibility for all future cases of MURDER-RAPE-SEXUAL and other ABUSE which will result should immediately take action to pursue all cases of Forced Marriage with vigour using existing LAW.
