A Nation Betrayed –An Honour To Be Bestowed -Why?

 
Our PRIME MINISTER is "unique" in our long history as a Free Nation State in agreeing to give away the Freedoms and Liberties of the English People, and we are now told that America intends to give their greatest Award – The Congressional Medal of Honor to Mr Blair for his support in taking our Nation to war in Iraq having achieved the support of the House of Commons with a Big Lie.   

The last Prime Minister to be so honoured was Winston Churchill after the Second World War. To give now such an Honour to a Traitor of his own country and it’s historic past and his pronouncement of falsehood to the Nation in order to get acceptance for War, would denigrate the previous owners of its Title.

We as a People will always in the main support our kin and friends in America but we are and always have been an Independent and Proud People and would not betray our historical Heritage EVEN with our closest Friends and Allies.

The People if they had been given the TRUE facts by a Prime Minister with Integrity for this Countries future FREEDOM, would no doubt have supported the War even if there were no Weapons of Mass Destruction at that time, provided their was irrefutable evidence that WMD would be a threat in the near future and the action would receive the full support of the UN. Because in these circumstances.
ALL should share the Sacrifice!  

The aftermath of the war has revealed the dangers, which have beset our brave troops, particularly as we now understand that as the Occupying Authority we are now asking our Troops to give notice of their intention to inspect homes for arms. We ask is Political Correctness involved? Well we now know the result of this policy with the death of six brave and stoic defenders of Freedom.

At this time, it has been revealed the Ministry of Defence has a policy of discharging Service Personnel before they qualify for their Pensions. The Stolen and Polluted millions that will be saved will not be used to give the Forces better equipment in order to save lives but no doubt to show how efficient the Ministry of Defence is in curtailing

Expenditure. This is their despicable Policy when we are short of 5000 troops, possibly more, and when we now require substantial forces to control events in Iraq.

The Government makes great-play of the numbers of UN troops which will shortly be arriving in Iraq, without being forthright about the ability and suitability of all of these Forces in the present and still volatile theatre of war, and the question of differences of Equipment and Training. We understand that there will be a number of Engineers amongst them – very useful - but all these forces will themselves require the protection of the existing reduced Anglo-American active command in order they do not suffer high losses – which would be politically damaging to any further increase in the UN contingent. Mr Hoon and other members of his department are pleased to have this Token Force?  Which will they hope give belated Legitimacy to the War, but they must not over-sell the immediate benefits of the new arrivals who will need the constant protection of the already over-stretched Anglo-American Force.

What is needed is for the Military Forces in Iraq to be speedily reinforced and the Religious Leaders in every area to be consulted and acquainted immediately of the role of our Forces in the country.  A further need is for all Iraqis to be informed through their Religious Leaders, of any differences of operating procedure between the American, British and future UN Forces.  As circumstances will need to be flexible in order to deal with each situation, which arises - the operative Word is Communication. 

But the paramount objective must be to give the maximum protection to our troops at all times - whatever the cost! This is the least we can do for them. If there is any saving necessary it should be on the outrageous waste of a failed Asylum Policy and the growth of a mountain of unproductive and politically correct non-jobs in our Economy. The squeeze will have to come soon – mark our words!

The lives of our Forces are not to be viewed as mere statistics as in comparing human losses with the objective in mind, as acceptable, as the Government imagine, but the flesh and blood of our Free Citizens who were betrayed as to the true purpose of the war and are now asked to give their lives because of the failure of the Policy of the Government concerned.

 We expect a thorough investigation into the murder of our servicemen and an early explanation of the events, which left these brave men to die in such appalling circumstances.

To ensure Justice for the Fallen we instance an episode during the war of 1854 when the then Prime Minister

Lord John Russell (1st Earl Russell) commenting regarding an Inquiry by the Commons said “… Inquiry is the proper duty and function of the House of Commons. When the British armies have suffered a reverse, this duty has always been performed.  Thus when Minorca was lost in 1757 they consented to an Inquiry. Thus when General Burgoyne capitulated in 1777, the House of Commons inquired into the causes of the disaster………Inquiry is, indeed, at the root of the powers of the House of Commons.

Upon the result of the Inquiry must depend the due exercise of these powers? If from delay and confusion in the execution of orders, injury has arisen, the subordinate officers should be removed. If from negligence, in competency, or corruption, the Ministers are themselves to blame for the failure which has been incurred, these Ministers may according to the nature and degree of their fault, be censured, or removed, or punished.”     

Can we hope for such Justice from our House of Commons?

Particular attention should be directed to the suitability of treating the Occupation – which is what it is! -as an extension of the Northern Ireland model. The dangers are obvious as the Culture of these Peoples is so diverse as to lead to much misunderstanding. The People of Iraq are aware of the great opposition to the war in the West and are learning fast how vulnerable Democracies are when they try to force their Values on them. As has happened to Conquerors in the past the Defenders learn greatly from their occupiers and in time use this information to obtain their own objectives!

Because of their years of terror under a brutal dictatorship where no dissent was permitted they are unable to fully adjust to their new Freedom. Their Berlin Wall was a religious divide rather than Ideological one and it will return to being so in the future.  

An Iraq Government should be set up without further delay so that the people there can vent their pent-up energies in making their country governable and prosperous, and maybe, they will eventually thank our peace loving nation, for the sacrifice of our servicemen, in bringing Freedom into their lives.

If our senior PARTNERS in the Alliance wish to Honour our Nation, what better than decorate our brave men who have given their lives for love of country, and in order to bring Freedom to the Oppressed.
