Gordon Brown leaves for the EU summit in Lisbon today, apparently determined to deal a double blow to British democracy.

All the indications are that he intends to approve the new European Constitution, now masquerading under the innocuous-sounding title of the treaty.

If he dose so, he will not only be breaking an unequivocal pledge to the British electorate that Labour would call a

REFERENDUM

on the new constitutional arrangements.

He will also be stripping this

NATION

of its

SOVEREIGNTY

in crucial areas -and denying future generations of Britons the

RIGHT -HARD WON

by our

ANCESTORS

to

CHOOSE

WHO SHOULD GOVERN THEM

AND HOW

Now, there may be a case (though the Mail hotly disputes if) for surrendering control of further swathes of policy including:

ENERGY

TRANSPORT

IMMIGRATION

FINANCIAL REGULATION

TRADE UNION LEGISLATION

-to a European Super-State of unelected quangocrats and lawyers.

But if there is, Mr Brown doesn't even attempt to make it. He chooses instead to pretend that the treaty will hardly affect us at all.

He gets his wunderkind Foreign Secretary to tell egregious lies about it. The treaty is 'completely different', claims David Miliband, from the draft constitution rejected by FRANCE and the NETHERLANDS [in 2005] on which we have been

PROMISED

A

REFERENDUM.

NO IT ISN'T -IT'S 96 % IDENTICAL

Other European leaders 'all accept' that it's different, claims Mr Miliband.

REALLY?

So what did German Chancellor Angela Merkel mean when she said:

'The substance of the constitution is preserved. That is a fact'?

Did the leaders of Spain, Ireland, Czechoslovakia and Luxembourg 'all accept' the treaty was different from the [2005] treaty, when every one of them said it was substantially the same?

MR MILIBAND SHOULD REFRAIN FROM INSULTING THE INTELLIGENCE OF THE ELECTORATE.

 In the words of Labour MP Michael Connarty, chairman of the Commons European Scrutiny Committee:

'It's exactly the same apart from no songs  and no symbols.'

 As for the Government's much-vaunted 'red lines'

supposed to protect Britain's

NATIONAL INTERESTS

the committee finds they are all meaningless.

THIS PAPER has a great admiration for Mr Brown. But if he puts his initials to the

EU TREATY in LISBON

while denying us the

PROMISED REFERENDUM

HE WILL BE LETTING HIMSELF AND HIS COUNTRY DOWN.

TODAY in 2007 it is not any different as there are many in ALL the political parties who cannot wait to get their reward in the unholy monster to be called the

UNITED STATES OF EUROPE.

How a people could be so submissive to the threat to losing

THEIR COUNTRY

THEIR COMMON LAW

THEIR RIGHTS AND LIBERTIES

THEIR NATION STATE

THEIR IDENTITY

is a wonder to be hold. It was to be expected that after 35 years of stealthily gutting our National Institutions the people would be unaware of the danger but at the moment of a Scottish Prime Minister leaving the country to sign away our RIGHTS and LIBERTIES' in Lisbon one would have thought that Mr Brown with the responsibility for the future of 87% of the population in our island home who reside in ENGLAND we have yet to see massive demonstrations on the streets of our capital city or any other cities on the mainland.

Of course as we have already indicated on our website there is a march in London in ten days time on Saturday the 21st October, 2007 whereas we have been arguing for massive demonstrations for the past year and longer.
