Are not the Grandees of New Labour also culpable for appointing a ‘weak man’ as Prime Minister of Britain?

 

Those members of the hierarchy who selected Tony Blair must have had some indication of his unsuitableness to be First Minister of a Nation with its Historic past stretching back 1500 years.

 

The following article illustrates only too well the sort of man who was elected to a Premier position in our Constitution and the catastrophic damage he has inflicted during his term of office.

 

Those of the inner circle of Labour who supported the nomination of such a man should themselves be asked to account for the damage their appointee has done.

In a military environment an appointed leader of men who failed to deliver Victory did not expect to keep his job and those responsible for the selection might find themselves under pressure to resign.

‘Weak’ Blair

is not clever enough

to be

a Great PM.

 

TONY BLAIR has failed as Prime Minister because he is not clever enough to come up with coherent policies and refuses to listen, according to a devastating critique by one of Britain’s most respected academics.

 

Anthony Seldon, [a respected academic] Mr Blair’s biographer, said he was a ‘weak man’ who was unable to stand up to rich and powerful figures such as George Bush and Rupert Murdoch.

 

 

He attacked the Prime Minister’s desire to be surrounded by cronies, saying he had courted YES-men since his school days.

 

Dr Seldon, who came to his conclusions after being granted access to senior Downing Street staff, also hit out at attempts by [New] Labour spin doctors to blacken his name by claiming he was lying about his contacts at the top of Government.

 

Launching The Blair Effect, a book of essays on labour’s second term, Dr Seldon depicted MR Blair as a leader with

 

No clear principles or ideas

 

Who did not know what he was trying to achieve until 2003, seven years after he took power.

 

‘He didn’t work out until far too late why he wanted to become Prime Minister, what he had become Prime Minister to achieve,’ said Dr Seldon.

 

‘He’s not an intellectual. He’s not capable of constructing a coherent platform himself. He doesn’t have the intellectual apparatus,’

 

Dr Seldon hit out at Blair’s informal style of Government, which attracted fierce criticism from senior civil servants and the Butler Report on Iraq.

 

‘Not only did he not know what to do with power but he didn’t know how to use It.’ he said.

 

‘Much of that is down to the style of Government that I call “Denocracy” and others call the sofa style.

 

‘He doesn’t use the best minds in the civil service and the Foreign Office.

 

‘He likes to have cronies around him. He’s always liked this ever since his days back in Fettes School and St John’s College, Oxford, or in those Bar chambers where all his mates sat around saying how stupid everybody else is.

 

‘He won’t listen to the best minds. He’s not open to those that are critical of what you are trying to achieve.’

 

He went on:

 

‘Tony Blair is in many ways quite a weak man. He’s weak at standing up to powerful figures, whether they are Rupert Murdoch, Bill Clinton, from whom he got next to nothing, and George Bush.

 

‘The Iraq policy itself has been an utter disaster.’

 

He added:

 

‘I think Iraq may bring his downfall. I think it will irreparably damage his political standing and reputation.’

 

The final factor that has held back Mr Blair, according to Dr Seldon, is his ‘clash with Gordon Brown’, which is likely to flare up again soon. ‘I cannot believe it isn’t going to be war as usual,’ said Dr Seldon. ‘The only question is when it will resume.

 

‘There is a great deal simmering under the surface.’

 

Describing Downing Street spin doctors as ‘Orwellian’, Dr Seldon said Mr Blair’s spokesman tried to rubbish his credentials when he wrote recently that the Prime Minister was again planning to put Gordon Brown in his place.

‘I talk to them but they try to make out that I don’t talk to them,’ said Dr Seldon, who is head of Brighton College and soon to take over as Master of Wellington College.

 

‘If a Headmaster said to his pupils, “Own up”, everyone is going to keep their heads down.

 

‘Do you seriously think that anyone will stand up and say, “it was me”?

 

‘They deny things I haven’t said and don’t comment on the things I have said which are completely true.

‘It is a distressing return to Number Ten media spin. It was disappointing to me.’

 

He suggested that Mr Blair might be forced to step down through ill health.

 

‘The Prime Minister has twice had to take time off work with a heart complaint,’ said Doctor Seldon.

 

‘There are significant reasons for thinking he won’t last into 2008 -not least Iraq, terrorist bombs in Britain, Gordon Brown, fatigue, health and boredom,’ [possibly a spot of soldiering in Iraq will help him realise the results of his mindless actions]

 

Doctor Seldon suggested that Mr Blair should have quit last year when he was beset with personal and political problems.

 

The Academic again alluded to a family crisis in the Blair household that drove the Prime Minister to the point of resignation last year.

 

Downing Street reacted with fury when Labour Peer Lord Bragg was first to mention the crisis an open secret in Westminster.

 

‘It was a very stressful, traumatic time,’ said Dr Seldon. He had huge strains, huge family strains and political strains.’ [So have the relatives of the dead and injured soldiers fighting in Blair’s War in Iraq]

 

Doctor Seldon’s final verdict was that Mr Blair had left it too late to achieve anything of significance in power.

 

‘It is very rare indeed for any democratic leader to leave their achievements so late in the day,’ said Dr Seldon.

 

‘To be in your ninth year and to have your own personal legacy so up in the air and unproven is extraordinary.

 

‘I think he will achieve about 15 per cent of what he thinks he will achieve.’

 

Dr Seldon said Mr Blair’s failures were all the more striking because he was presented with almost uniquely favourably circumstances.

 

‘Labour in its 105 -year-history has never had the advantages of a second Blair Government,’ he said.

 

‘It may well be it will be another 100 years before Labour has another similar opportunity.

 

‘This Government had a great big majority that allowed them to reach for the sky, to do anything that they could have chosen to done.

 

‘It was an extraordinary opportunity. I can’t think of a single person in Number 10 who wouldn’t like to reel the clock back to 1997.

[The pain that Tony Blair has and will suffer will be just punishment for his disloyalty to his Queen - Country- Constitution and all who had such high hopes on the day he declared he was a

 

‘Servant of the People’.

So much loss of life and hardship in an ignoble war in Iraq and the honourable reputation of the nation tarnished - the almost destruction of our Ancient Constitution will be the legacy of a Prime Minister who should

NEVER HAVE BEEN.

 

 

Those who knew the weakness of the man and supported his rise to power are as guilty as he - for to allow an unsuitable person to obtain such a powerful position in our Constitution is tantamount to

Treason.

 

[After the change in the Constitution after the Revolution of 1689 the First Minster - later Prime Minster whose office was enhanced by the power

of ‘Order in Council’ which enabled Tony Blair to side-step Parliament on many important Constitutional issues which should have been a matter for Referenda.

 

The practice of Cabinet responsibility was to replace the head on the block but we can see in our day that there are many treasonable ministers who have escaped their true punishment.

 

The massive election majority in 1997 gave immense power which in the hands of a trusted ‘Servant of the People’ would not have resulted in such catastrophic changes to our Constitution and the entry into an illegal war.

 

Members of Parliament are the Custodians of OUR Constitution and should be more scrupulous of those who aspire to High Office as they THE MEMBERS OF THE HOUSES of Parliament must take responsibility for the actions of those who form the Executive.]

 

WE have YET to see Justice done with the punishment of ALL who have sold their Country for personal advancement and have committed High Treason.
