Electoral Commission says Postal Voting more subject to Fraud

 

The Electoral Commission has asked the Government to think again and not have Postal voting because the dangers of fraud.  The case, which was raised in the Channel Four interview with the Local Government minister, was the susceptibility due to heads of families influencing the vote.

 

According to Mr Raynsworth it would be appropriate for postal voting to be carried out in other areas, which have not experienced fraud. This is like saying that if a particular part of the country had not experienced the crime of burglary in particular period that there was not a possibility that there could be a burglary there in the future.

 

The present system of voting by ballet at a polling station with provision for postal voting for certain categories of voters are the tried and tested system and it should remain.

 

If the Government insists on going ahead with postal voting in defiance of the Electoral Commission then it lends itself to being a party to the fraud because of the nature of the method used.  

 

One way to stop this obvious fraudulent process is for every other party considering taking part in the postal election to refuse and advise their supporters accordingly.  If the majority of potential voters refused to vote then the election would be declared void.
