We're all in danger from supermorons

[Daily Mail-Friday, November 2, 2007]

THE United States is a SUPERPOWER led by a SUPERMORON. It is the most dangerous combination imaginable. Wicked leaders are easier to deal with than the impregnably STUPIT.

In case you have still to make up your mind about Bush's IQ, let me remind you of a passage in John Simpson's superb book

'Not Quite World's End'

from which the Mail published extracts recently.

Simpson interviewed an exiled Iraqi politician called in to brief Bush shortly before the invasion in 2003. The Iraqi admitted reluctantly that Bush seemed not to understand the terms Sunni and Shia. He did not know about the religious divide. And that was just three months before the INVASION!

The history of the Iraq war certainly contains shameful evidence that intelligence to the White House was being assiduously filtered by the Cabinet hawks to keep the President in a belligerent mood. All the same, it would require eyes wide shut to avoid learning of the sectarian divide in Iraq.

Now this preposterous figure is contemplating dropping a special super-bomb (not nuclear) on Iran to destroy its underground uranium facilities. The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency says Iraq is years away from making a single bomb, if indeed it can manage it. But Bush is only a year away from the next Presidential election.

He would love to redeem his hideous failure in Iraq with a devastating blow to destroy Iran's nuclear programme - a programme which in recent months he has branded as the start of World War III and the beginning of a nuclear holocaust.

His lurches from calling for more diplomacy to noisy threats depend on whether he is trying to soothe other world leaders. In Washington, some serious sources say

THE DECISION HAS ALREADY BEEN TAKEN

THE REST IS PROPAGANDA

Has he , or has Gordon Brown, the remotest idea of what such an attack would lead to?

The policy makers around Bush are still dominated by neocons who got everything wrong about Iraq and are equally capable of getting everything wrong about Iran.

The first but mildest reaction if Iran was bombed would be a repeat of the OPEC reaction to American aid to Israel in the 1973 Arab-Israeli war. OPEC set an oil price which pushed the U.S.  (and others) into economic recession, with America reduced to petrol rationing.

Holland interestingly, was singled out for an oil embargo, having allowed U.S. supply planes to use its airfields.

Further  possible steps become fiercer. Obviously Tehran could supply sufficient aid to Iraqi insurgents to see the Americans chased out of Baghdad at humiliating speed.

Then there 's the Gulf itself, with nearly 20 per cent of the world's oil supply passing through the Straits of Hormoz, overlooked by Iran. Washington has long believed it can maintain security of the passage through a powerful Gulf carrier force. But the effectiveness of awesome firepower (see Iraq, see Vietnam).

Iran, with a population larger than the UK, is itself a serious military power with weapons ranging from submarines to missiles - and the supreme advantage over the U.S. in this theatre of operating from land.

As Tehran recently pointed out, it has a deadly weapon in small fast boats capable of suicide attacks on warships.

The spectacle of serious American losses in a Gulf war would send a shockwave through world stock markets. the idea of Iran controlling the Straits would add another twist to the upward spiral in oil prices.

OF COURSE, none of the oil states would take kindly to Iran controlling the Straits. Saudi Arabia is the one that matters.

Riyadh has a on-off relationship with Tehran which could just as easily make it  an ally or enemy of a bombed Iran. In the latter case, the Saudi regime might need to worry about Jihadist revolutionaries. New heights of Middle East instability become imaginable.

And where would Russia and China stand? Delighted to see Bush humiliated - and Russia would also be delighted by a higher oil price. Both would lead Security Council condemnations of Washington. Of various post-bombing scenario, most have two things in common.

ONE is soaring oil prices. Together with alarm at the U.S. plunging the Middle East into yet more turmoil, this would bring serious economic damage to the West.

THE OTHER is that outrage in the MUSLIM WORLD would bring over more recruits to TERRORISM - some of then no doubt born or resident in BRITAIN.

We could expect a quantum leap in security threats in this country as long as we remain closely associated with American policy.

There would be an extra element of danger from the fact that Britain is America's stopover gas station for its warplanes, very important for a giant bomber. These UK bases made sense during the Cold War; THEY DO NOT NOW

THEY BRING DANGER, NOT SECURITY.

But they also provide a massive lever; a threat to close down those U.S.Air Force  bases if Washington insisted putting us all in PERIL.

IT WOULD DO THE TRICK AT ONCE

Has Brown the guts to wield that stick?

So You Want Out Of The EU

THEN WHY NOT SIGN THE

RENUNCIATION of EU CITIZENSHIP

WHY WE ASK YOUR SUPPORT

When we first saw the petition we reasoned that it had no chance of success from No 10 but we supported it in order to gauge the number of Britons who would publicly put their name to a list which stated that they wished to RENUNCIATE EU CITIZENSHIP and retain only BRITISH.-THAT IS WHAT THIS IS ABOUT. Some might say that to hide behind a negative premise is both cowardly and playing into the hands of the EU FEDERALISTS.  DON'T LET THEM GET AWAY WITH IT- Place your vote so ALL can see that YOU CARE. about YOUR COUNTRY and YOUR FREEDOM.

Details from petition creator

With the signing of the Maastricht Treaty the people of Britain were given

DUAL CITIZENSHIP

-both

EUROPEAN and BRITISH

The extra tier of citizenship was thrust upon the people without their consent -and in many cases knowledge.

The PEOPLE of GREAT BRITAIN should be allowed the option of opting out of the EUROPEAN CITIZENSHIP if they so wish. The GOVERNMENT will then be able to provide those who have opted out with

BRITISH DOCUMENTATION

-only such as British  (not EU) passports, driving licences and other national documents.

EU laws will also NOT APPLY to those who

HAVE OPTED OUT OF EUROPEAN CITIZENSHIP
