CHRISTIAN students SUE in GAY RIGHTS ROW.

CHRISTIAN students have launched a High Court battle against their university after they were banned from its facilities due to refusal to accept GAY RIGHTS. The legal move by the Christian Union at Exeter University could prove a TEST CASE. Confrontations over attempts to censor students with traditional beliefs have also taken place in LONDON BIRMINGHAM GLASGOW EDINBURGH The row between universities and Christian groups centres in VALUES -as Unions and Universities demand the acceptance of GAY EQUALITY -from those who believe HOMOSEXUALITY PRACTICE is wrong.
At Exeter, the 50-year-old Christian Union was banned by the Students' Guild and barred from the university rooms after it refused to withdraw rules which demand members declare they believe in CHRIST. The rules prevent GAY activists from joining. Group spokesman Ben Martin said: 'Legal action was the very last thing we wanted to take. We are all students trying to concentrate on our studies, but the action of the GUILD, in blatant infringement of our RIGHTS, and their RELUCTANCE to REINSTATE US, has left us NO ALTERNATIVE. A statement on the Exeter University Students' Guild website said: 'Students felt that as students fund our societies and our equal opportunities policy states, all activities should be open to all students. 'This is certainly not a debate regarding the beliefs of the society, it is one of equal opportunities.' Archbishop of Canterbury Dr Rowan Williams last month criticised attempts to silence Christian students who oppose GAY RIGHTS.
