Does he not remember the recent Finnish presidency aim to frisk us of our VETO which was handed to them on a plate by Tony Blair. And the attempt to
interfere with our Justice system which other EU countries took exception but our poodles like Mr Hague still speak nonsense of engaging with Europe

EU membership
costs the UK around £94 BILLION
A YEAR.
Open Europe
reports Gunter
Verheugen as saying in an interview with the
Financial Times on the 10th October 2006 that the EU
regulation costs the
EU - E600 BILLION a year.
These are only
the administrative costs; the follow-on dynamic
costs are not included.
Open Europe
points out that the EU Commission estimates the
"benefit" of the
Single Market as
being around 160 billion euros a year, suggesting
very strongly that even on the Commission's rosy
scenario the cost of increased regulation vastly
outweighs the benefit.
600 billion euros is
around 5.7 per cent of EU -25GDP: this is almost
three times Ian Milne's estimate in
'A
Cost Too Far'
In
that book, published in 2004, the author could
detect zero "benefit" from the Single Market. If
Commissioner Verheugen's estimate of cost is right,
then in the case of the UK net contribution to
Brussels, plus the cost of the
CAP
-the annual net
cost of the
EU
membership
-would be a minimum
of 7.7 per cent of UK GDP

An opinion poll by

Europe published to coincide with the Tampere
meeting found that the British public is OPPOSED to
GIVING UP the VETO by a proportion of three to one. 72 per cent of respondents said that the UK
SHOULD RETAIN ITS RIGHT TO VETO
BRUSSEL'S LAWS
about CRIME - JUSTICE and POLICING.
ONLY 26 per cent were
in favour of GIVING UP the VETO.

Auditors refuse to
clear EU budget.

WATCHDOGS have refused to give the EU's annual
accounts a clean bill of health -for the 12th year
in a row.
The European Court of
Auditors will today say there are still insufficient
controls over how all the EU's budget of nearly £70
billion is spent.
Auditors cannot say
if much of the money actually reaches its intended
destinations -particularly funds for farmers
and under developed regions. Spain and Greece have
been singled out in the past for failing to monitor
farm subsidies.
The court is again
expected to report, as it has for the past dozen
years that it can confidently confirm the spending
of ONLY 10 per cent of
the Brussels budget.
Auditors previously
said that up to 90 per cent cannot be properly
accounted for, and that some of that amount is
subject to outright FRAUD...
