For most of us, anything to do with the subject of the EU is remote, academic, and boring, and whilst the prospect of a referendum on the proposed Constitution for Europe will not necessarily change that, it may help to focus on the all important question that recurs in British politics, namely, ‘who governs Britain?’

The following is an attempt to get to grips with some of the leading features of the Constitution, but avoiding a long or over technical treatment of the subject, and mainly for those knowing little or nothing about it. When Me Blair tells us that it would change the political landscape “for generations”, we believe him!

After many drafts the final text of the European Union’s proposed Constitution was agreed and signed by heads of EU member states on the 29^th October 2004 in Rome.

This began the process of formal ratification by each member state in accordance with their own constitutional requirements.

In the UK after much political pressure Prime Minister Blair reversed his original decision not to hold a referendum in the UK and this is expected to take place some time in 2006.

The referendum question agreed by the government and the Electoral Commission will be ‘should the United Kingdom approve the Treaty establishing a Constitution for the European Union? CREC, (Campaign to Reject the European Constitution) is one of many groups opposing the EU Constitution, which has suggested that a more honest and realistic question should be: ‘Do you wish the European Constitution to replace the British Constitution?’

The result of adopting the Constitution for the UK would be immense as we will see in more detail later, but it is certain to end our status as a self-governing nation, abolish our right to national self -determination, our Parliamentary democracy, and destroy many of our freedoms and liberties.

One does not need to be “zenophobe” to realise that if finally adopted it would follow that for the first time in Britain’s history we would have a foreign Constitution devised by foreign politicians, serving foreign interests, composed by foreign bureaucrats, and signed and sealed in a foreign country (Final-Treaty of Rome).

The Constitution itself is full of tedious bureaucratic language, and it is hardly surprising that UK politicians and others in the EU member states admit that a majority of people will never read it, let alone understand it, and yet the electorate is being asked to give its verdict on it in a national referendum expected before the end of 2006.

Government minister’s statements about its place and importance are confusing - one moment it is nothing more than a “tidying up exercise” to simplify the EU’s administration of 25 member states, and the next moment it is, if Mr Blair is to be believed, “even more important than Iraq”.

But continental politicians are far more honest and consistent in expressing a radically different understanding of the Constitution: e.g. The German Minister for Europe described it as “The birth certificate of the United States of Europe” (speech to Bundestag-March 2005), Whilst Giscard d’Estaing the French President of the EU Convention which drew up the proposals for the Constitution stated bluntly:

“Our Constitution cannot be reduced to a mere treaty

for co-operation between governments. Anyone who has not yet grasped this fact deserves to wear the dunce’s cap”

(Speech- on receiving the Charlemagne prize for European Integration-May 2003).

It is not acceptable for our casualties to be in mixed wards with civilians, Sir Richard says.

‘Our people need the privacy of recovering in a military environment – a soldier manning a machine –gun in Basra loses consciousness when he is hit by a missile and next recovers consciousness in a hospital in the UK.

He wants to wake up in a familiar sights and sounds, he wants to see people in uniform. He doesn’t want to be in a civilian environment. We exacerbate the culture shock.’

[Gordon Brown in your homeland you have some of the most famous regiments in the country. Knowing the man you are we feel sure that you will put the interests of the fighting man high on your list and will reverse the decision to close Military Hospitals.

Cost should never be an issue as such brave men should have the thanks of a nation the fifth richest in the world and the needs of our wounded to be treated in a Military Hospital should be the least we can do for those who offer their lives for their country as an ongoing sacrifice.

A few weeks ago we made the suggestion that those who have a greater proportion of the wealth of the country -and there are many of them-with others joining them on a monthly and possibly daily basis to contribute to a

MILITARY HOSPITAL FUND.

The newspapers took up our question of the virtues of the Victorian practice of funding many of the essential institutions but raised the issue of the greater tax burden now on those who are successful who in the main consider they are paying out enough to the STATE and therefore generosity elsewhere is ignored. As we all know there are many successful entrepreneurs who see to it that they avoid paying any tax at all. But the point we made was that even with the burden of heavy taxes surely these individuals can still sent a few thousand pounds for such a

WORTHY COURSE.

We are sure that millions of taxpayers and others will contribute what ever they can as there can be few causes which effect every family in the land at one time or another. As soon as the GOVERNMENT see that the FUND is in the public domain it would be unlikely that they themselves would not contribute. The significance of the greater sum of funding coming from the general public will ensure that when that MILITARY HOSPITAL has been built on mainly public subscriptions that

IT WILL BELONG TO THE PEOPLE

Because of the URGENCY of ACTION and this MATTER unless this WORTHY CAUSE is taken up by the MEDIA shortly we will be placed in a situation to take up the CHALLENGE ourselves. Should our intervention be necessary we will ask for monies to be paid direct into a bank-account under the label of

MILITARY HOSPITAL FUND-

We ourselves will leave all matters to those persons who have no connection to the Party.

There is still time for the countless persons of wealth and influence in our 4th richest country in the world to give a enduring practical monument for the use of our brave servicemen and women.

You will naturally say what happens if Gordon Brown does not support the loosening of centralisation and offers no way out of Europe or even a stop to any more give-aways to that unaccountable -corrupt-police state?

The problem is of our own making because the issue of

at Westminster has been ignored by the main parties and the multitude of political parties and organisations in the country. It has left the tripartite Westminster Cabal free from real competition and as a result they hold the ace card and have no wish to share their power base and the lovely lolly and privilege with others ,who they fear would be more passionate about the great issues facing our country in the 21st century.

So we are left with the choice -but in reality there is only one man we can trust-a man whose credentials in the main we accept -knowing of his faults which all politicians harbour but we do not doubt his strength of purpose and hope most urgently that Gordon Brown will make the changes which the majority of the People are asking for and at the top of the list is the protection of our

FREE NATION STATE

We await the results of the first 100 days which will decide the fate of our Nation and People with hope and of great expectations.

Destiny has showed its face- we hope it is what all loyal subjects are all waiting for.

IIn Letters to the Daily Mail column on Wednesday June 20 -2007 we sighted an appropriate contribution from a correspondent D .A from London SW 19 which must be no doubt the view of millions who in this country had high hopes at his crowning - but how disappointing it has been.

Time to grow up, Dave

SO DAVE says he's going to listen to members of the public (hollow laugh) and value their input policy wise (oh yeah).

I've tried repeatedly to get past his bodyguard of office rottweillers, trained to reply with excruciatingly polite letters while ensuring any points I raise are rigorously ignored.

I've asked specific questions such as:

Do you find it acceptable or intolerable that 75 per cent of our legislation [At least] is decided in circumstances over which we have no control, little influence and only the merest semblance of democracy?

I've even given him tick boxes so he doesn't even have to construct a sentence in reply.

I tell him his pathetic policy towards Europe is unworkable. Brussels is not going to abandon 50 years of concentrated effort towards a federal state -not when they are on the last lap - just because Dave asks them to. He's going to be outflanked by the

being turned into a

and passed during this Labour government's tenure, leaving him feebly blathering.

He doesn't even listen to his own party members or take note that three-quarters of the public polled would either quit the political/economic involvement, or leave the EU altogether.

He dismisses anyone who disagrees with him as 'delusional' or calls us names such as 'fruitcake' [Etc...]

Dave - grow up
