A MATTER OF REAL JOBS-CRIMINAL NEGLECT AND HELP FOR THE REMAINING HEROES * Only REAL jobs can pull [England-Wales and Scotland] through. As unemployment surges above two million, these are desperate times indeed for the wealth-creators of the PRIVATE SECTOR. But what a different story it is in the la-la land of the PUBLIC PAYROLL. To see town hall bosses and quangocrats wantonly splashing taxpayers' money around, you'd think there wasn't a cloud in the economic skies. Isn't it unbelievable that job numbers in the PUBLIC SECTOR actually increased by 30,000 last year, while in private businesses they shrank by 105,000 Let's be clear: the Mail accepts many public employees do vital work, without which our country couldn't function. But while engineers, stonemasons and shop assistants are being thrown on the dole, what possible justification can there be for the NHS to go on recruiting 'flexible resource team members'? How can Schools Secretary Ed Balls offer £65,000 a year of our money foe a 'themes coordinator' to run his fatuous 'Centre for Excellence and Outcomes'? It's not just economic madness to waste money like this, when PUBLIC FINANCES are in their worst state since [the Second World ] War. Its also socially divisive -and deeply unfair - to insulate one section of the workforce from economic reality, while leaving the rest to bear ALL THE PAIN. EVEN BEFORE the RECESSION, BRITAIN'S PUBLIC SECTOR was BLOATED far beyond the NATION'S NEEDS, with PUBLIC EMPLOYEES enjoying HIGHER WAGES-LOWER RETIREMENT AGES and HUGELY MORE GENEROUS PENSIONS than those in PRIVATE BUSINESSES. Today , there is no way the country can afford to go on financing this reckless expansion of THE STATE. For the bigger it grows, the more painful the CUTS will have TO BE when the inevitable MOMENT COMES. If ministers think ' themes co-ordinators and flexibile resource team workers' can rebuild our ECONOMY ,they're in for a SHOCK.
