For quite a few Coppers more

[Daily Mail-Monday, January 26,2009]

SENIOR policemen have a SECRET BONUS SCHEME, its reported, paying out hundreds of thousands of pounds a year to about 300 OFFICERS

[THE 300 WHO WERE JUDGES OF THEIR OWN PECUNIARY REWARD]

Now we know what the policeman was laughing at.

North Wales's highly unpopular Chief Constable Richard Brunstrom got

£14,249,07

a curious sum which is not explained.

[Possibly a computer was used to assess the payouts from an agreed total payout- which would explain the result]

But some TOP BOBBIES refuse the money , perhaps because in some cases the bonuses are awarded rather embarrassingly on the basis of self evaluation. [possibly a percentage figure is used?]

Bonuses of any kind - especially in BANKING , as we've found - are highly questionable, but surely they're especially fishy in PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS?

No doubt HOME SECRETARY JACQUI SMITH will want to know were the TWO CANDIDATES for MET POLICE COMMISSIONER stand, before she picks one of them THIS WEEK.

Is Acting Commissioner Sir Paul Stephenson one of the senior MET OFFICERS known to have DIPPED THEIR NOSES INTO THIS TROUGH?

How about his rival NORTHERN IRELAND'S Sir Hugh Orde?

OF COURSE -IT WON'T MATTER

if Ms Smith is in on the SCAM.

I wonder if there isn't more we ought to know about POLICE FINANCES in these STRAITENED TIMES?
